May 13, 2025 – The Medical Examiner’s Office is working with the police department to identify the man fatally struck by a CSX freight train this morning on railroad tracks that run behind the 5200 block of Hickory Hollow Parkway.
Two engineers on board reported first seeing the man standing on the tracks at a distance of two to three hundred yards as the train came out of a curve. Despite repeatedly sounding the train’s horn, they said he remained motionless.
The emergency brakes were applied, but the train was unable to stop before striking the individual. He died at the scene.
