August 27, 2024 – Metro Police arrested Jesse McBride, 33, a short time after he robbed a man and woman at gunpoint in a parking lot on Victory Avenue and drove off in their RV.
The victims, both in their mid-20s, were walking to their vehicle around 12:30 a.m. when they saw McBride get out of a car. They felt uncomfortable so they both got into the driver’s side of the RV. McBride then opened the passenger door and demanded the victim’s keys and wallets at gunpoint. They complied and he drove off in the RV.
The victims told responding Central Precinct officers that they had Apple AirTags in the RV which were tracked to East Trinity Lane and Dickerson Pike. East Precinct officers attempted to stop McBride but he drove off. Spike strips were successfully deployed prior to the RV wrecking in Madison where McBride fled on foot before being apprehended by Officer Tommy Smith and his canine partner Talon.
McBride is charged with aggravated robbery, carjacking, and evading arrest. He is being held in lieu of $175,000 bond.
