Outstanding investigation by the MNPD Fraud Unit over the last six months led to today’s arrest of Demonte Trammell, 28, on nearly 30 charges, including indictments for forgery, theft and identity theft.
Fraud Unit detectives identified Trammell, with assistance from U.S. Postal Service investigators, as the suspect allegedly responsible for at least 10 incidents where he stole mail from USPS collection boxes, took checks and washed them to cash different amounts at local banks.
Trammell was taken into custody today in a Demonbreun Street parking garage where he attempted to evade Central Precinct officers.
