Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of Javion Scruggs, 20, at a motel on Wallace Road Monday night. Scruggs emerged from a room and was walking across the parking lot when a man came up behind him and fired. Another person on the property fired back.
The suspect ran across the street, got into a vehicle, and fled.
Scruggs was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.
