A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a June hit-and-run crash that injured four pedestrians in Nashville, including two people who were in wheelchairs.
Felipe Alvarado-Hernandez was arrested Wednesday at his Antioch home, where investigators also found the white GMC Sierra pickup truck involved in the crash, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
The crash happened June 13 at the intersection of Demonbreun Street and Music Circle East. Police said the truck was turning left when the driver cut the turn short, drove onto the sidewalk and struck the four pedestrians as they waited to cross the street. One of the victims remains hospitalized in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Burn Unit.
MNPD Traffic Division investigators traced the truck using surveillance footage and private license plate reader cameras at a nearby parking garage. Investigator Keith Covert obtained the vehicle’s identifying information through a subpoena.
During an interview, Alvarado-Hernandez admitted to driving the truck on the morning of the crash.
He is facing 21 warrants for second-offense driving on a revoked license, along with four counts each of reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, failure to render aid, failure to provide financial responsibility, and failure to report an accident involving injury.
