Viral sensation Haliey Welch is putting her passion for animal welfare into action with the announcement of her new charitable fund, Paws Across America. Established in partnership with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CMFT), Paws Across America was created to bring awareness, advocacy and financial assistance to animal charities within the United States.
“Ever since my life changed so publicly, I realized there had to be a reason for it,” said Haliey Welch. “Growing up, the one constant in my life was my pets and they helped me get through so much. By starting Paws Across America, my newfound financial blessings will be shared with the animals that need it most.”
“For over thirty years, the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has been honored to be on the philanthropic journey with some of the world’s most inspiring artisans and entrepreneurs who are paving their way to make their communities more nourished, hopeful, and sustainable,” said Rondal Richardson, Senior Entertainment and Donor Services Liaison at CMFT. “We are thrilled to be on this impactful mission of Paws Across America with Haliey and her team to provide substantial funding to animal nonprofits across the country and look forward to creating beautiful change together!”
Through Paws Across America, Welch aims to make a significant difference in the lives of countless animals in need. Every donation made to the fund is tax-receipted and will be used to directly support animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country.
As one of the fund’s first initiatives, Welch recently volunteered at the Lewisburg Animal Shelter, near her hometown of Belfast, TN.
“It was great to meet Haliey and to know that she is giving back to her local community and thinking of our animals,” said Helen Lawhorne, Manager at Lewisburg Animal Shelter. “Her donation was greatly appreciated.”

Welch, a 21-year-old from Belfast, Tennessee, is a modern girl-next-door with a fiercely funny personality, who amassed more than a million followers across each of her social platforms within a week of her rise to fame. Despite the following, Welch remains grounded, working to use her fame for good. So far, Welch has used her influence to support causes like animal shelters and veterans. One of her first stops since becoming a household name was at a small animal shelter in Nashville, where she brought pet food and toys in to donate, and created some videos that will help the shelter find forever homes for their older dogs and cats. Welch is also launching anti-bullying efforts, following her own experiences as a victim of bullying. Welch is focused on staying true to herself while navigating the challenges of sudden fame.
