In late December, the City of Goodlettsville Fire Department responded to a call for a structure fire. When units arrived, much of the roof and other areas received damage. Had it not been for the quick actions of one young man named Jackson, things could have been much worse.

Jackson Andrews, age 7, lived across the street from the house that was on fire. It belonged to his grandparents. He was playing outside and saw the smoke. He ran into his own house and told his mom Sarah what he was seeing. The family called 911 and within a few minutes GFD arrived and was able to save the house.

On Thursday night Jackson, his family and several friends attended the City of Goodlettsville Commission meeting where a Proclamation was presented to recognize Jackson as a hero and to honor his bravery. He got to meet city officials and Fire Chief Kenneth Reeves. Fire Captain Andrew Robertson was also present along with his crew that fought the fire that day.

The fire had the potential to be much worse. No one was hurt and Jackson’s quick actions saved the day!
