Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School had a special visit from Governor Bill Lee Thursday afternoon.
As part of Tennessee’s summer learning programs, Governor Lee stopped at Pegram. He visited four classrooms and celebrated the hard work of both students and teachers.
“For the fourth year now, summer learning camps are ensuring students have the tools necessary to achieve reading gains,” said Gov. Lee. “As we continue to prepare students for success in the classroom and beyond with a strong K-3 literacy strategy, I commend Tennessee’s dedicated teachers for providing this key support.”
In 2023, summer learning camps netted continued positive gains for students, specifically in math for rising grades 1-3 and ELA in rising grades 4-9.
Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck and School Board members David Risner and Robert Epps, along with many other school leaders, were on hand for the visit.
Gov. Lee was also gifted by Dr. Beck with some fresh produce from the Harpeth High School agriculture program.
