May 23, 2025 – A man’s body was discovered Thursday afternoon in the Cumberland River.
A person fishing near Pennington Bend Road and McGavock Pike spotted the body in the water around 3 p.m. and contacted authorities.
The victim was wearing a red t-shirt with “Dyersburg Dental Associates” written on the front and back. He appeared to have suffered stab wounds. The victim had no identification and is believed to have been in the water for a period of days.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
