November 23, 2024 – A Nashville driver who fled from the scene of a crash involving his vehicle and another on Briley Parkway near Opryland Friday night is in critical life-threatening condition at a local hospital after he was struck by a Dodge Challenger.

Ricky Washington Jr., 23, ran from the scene of the initial crash in the northbound lanes of Briley Parkway, across the concrete median, the southbound lanes, and then onto Opryland Hotel property. Witnesses provided a clothing description. A responding Hermitage Precinct Officer saw Opryland security with Washington in the parking lot of the Inn at Opryland on Music Valley Drive. As the officer pulled up and got out of his car, Washington took off. The officer attempted to stop Washington with his Taser, but it was ineffective, likely due to the heavy coat Washington was wearing. Washington jumped over a guard rail and ran onto the Briley Parkway south exit ramp where he was immediately hit by the Dodge Challenger. He was rushed to Skyline Medical Center. At the time of this incident, Washington was on three-years supervised probation stemming from felony reckless endangerment and marijuana convictions from September 2023.

The driver of the Challenger, Jerry Holt II, 30, of Nashville, is not facing any charges related to hitting Washington. However, he is facing marijuana and gun charges after a backpack was found in the Challenger containing ¾ pound of marijuana and a scale. Holt was also carrying a pistol in his waistband.
