June 23, 2025 – Sharissa Perez, 40, resigned her position as a police sergeant in the School Safety Division (with disciplinary action pending) on Monday as the result of her indictment by the Davidson County Grand Jury on charges of theft and tampering with government records for falsely claiming and receiving overtime payments over multiple shifts.

The police department’s Office of Professional Accountability conducted an internal investigation into allegations of time-accounting violations by Perez and forwarded their concerns to the Fraud Unit. OPA and Fraud investigators determined that Perez falsely claimed to have been working overtime during partial amounts of 15 shifts between September 2024 and January 2025, resulting in an unearned $1,244.75.

Perez had been in a decommissioned status between February 14 and today while the investigations were conducted. She was released from jail today on a $2,500 bond.

Perez had been with the police department for eleven years.
