17 MNPS students have been named semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, placing them in the top 1 percent of the nation’s high school seniors.
These students are among 16,000 academically talented seniors from across the country who had the highest scores on the 2020 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test when they were juniors. From that group, 15,000 will be named finalists in February, and three types of scholarships totaling nearly $30 million will be awarded to approximately 7,500 students in the spring.
National Merit Scholarship winners are selected based on skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
